The Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation has been in existence since 1972, when four Counties in the Region with the fanatical badminton enthusiasts started an annual competition among themselves. These Countries were Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname and Guyana. In the early days the rivalry among the four countries was great with Jamaica and Suriname dominating the medal positions. As the years progressed the membership of CAREBACO increased to include Aruba, Curacao, Grenada, Barbados, Guatemala, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.
The 2011 CAREBACO Championships will be held at the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium. This year’s tournament will be a Junior and Senior competition with a Team event and Open event. The Tournament is expected to see some 100 regional competitors over the 7 days of competition.
